Community Support

The Sheridan Glacier Road Fund

Points North partnered with The Prince William Sound Economic Development District (PWSEDD) and The United States Forest Service (USFS) to put together a fund to give year-round access to the beloved Sheridan Glacier.

Thank you for your interest in helping increase the limited access around Cordova. The Sheridan Road Fund was created to provide year-round access to one of Cordovas most beloved resources, The Sheridan Glacier. Historically, the 3-mile forest service access road has not had the funds to get plowed all winter. For this geographically constrained community, having the ability to reliably access this glacier will have many positive impacts. There are not many places in the world where you can experience such an accessible wonder of nature. With how fast glaciers are receding, it is even more important to protect and utilize the access we currently have.

The Prince William Sound Economic Development District (PWSEDD) is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our EIN is 92-0137903.  People may make tax deductible contributions to the organization for the purpose of keeping access to the Sheridan Glacier recreation area open. We can accept old fashioned checks or pay by credit card at the link below. If you would like to learn more about the PWSEDD go to their website at pwsedd.org

A new hydraulic drive, new diesel auxiliary, new caliper brakes, and new control wiring were installed. In 1998 a new handle tow was installed to replace the home built rope tow, which had served beginners in Cordova since the early sixties.

The SAA is a local ski club contracted by the City of Cordova to operate and manage the Mt. Eyak Ski Area.
